Dr. Simone Bonamano
Recipient of scholarship
- university tutor with part-time contract at the Naval Academy, of the course of management and protection of marine resources and fisheries resources (courses for cadets);
- uses numerical models (ADCIRC, STWAVE, M2D, DELFT3D) in several Italian coastal areas to study the interaction between currents induced by wind and waves and the associated transport along the coastline;
- analyzes the impact due to the presence of coastal structures (eg. ports, brushes submerged and emerged, etc.) through simulations of scenarios before and after their construction;
- analyzes the dispersion of conservative substances (dredged material) and non-conservative (coliform bacteria) to assess the risk to human health and marine ecosystems;
- contributes to the development of the bi-optic PhytoVFP model for the calculation of phytoplankton primary production from satellite and in situ data;
- implements MathCAD and Matlab codes for processing data collected in situ;
actively involved in measurement campaigns for the collection of oceanographic, sedimentological, bathymetric and current meter data.

Francesco Paladini de Mendoza
Phd Student
- analyzes wave propagation through the use of stationary (STWAVE, CMS WAVE) and non-stationary models (CGWAVE);
- collaborates with the use of numerical models in different Italian coastal areas to study the interaction between currents induced by wind and waves and the associated transport along the coastline;
- collaborates to the analysis of the impact due to the presence of coastal structures (eg. ports, brushes submerged and emerged, etc.) through simulations of scenarios before and after their construction;
- analyzes sediment transport in suspension and on the bottom of the main rivers of the region of Lazio;
- collaborates to the management and maintenance of instruments for the measurement of wave motion and sea current.
